Mary Isabel Smith, at the age of 88, passed away in Calgary, Alta. on Thursday, Nov. 24, 2011.
Born on Aug. 15, 1923 in Sydney Mines, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Sarah MacLean. She was married to loving husband, William Sidney Smith (deceased) and had five children all raised in North Sydney, where Mary and William ‘Bill’ made their home. She also lost a child at birth. Mary devoted her life to her family and was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be missed deeply by all whose lives she touched.
Survivors include eldest daughter, Mary (Thomas - deceased) Baxter, Sydney Mines, grandchildren, Tommy, Tracey and Bobby; daughter, Shelia (Jackie) Tobin, Sydney, grandsons, Sean and Ryan; son, Daniel (Valerie) Smith, Sarasota, Florida, granddaughters, Lana, Rachel, and Danielle; son, Brian, Kentville, granddaughter, Ashley; daughter, Regis (Murray) LeBlanc, Calgary, Alta., grandsons, Tony and William; great-grandchildren, Christopher, Robert and Trevor James.
An intimate family service will be held in Calgary by daughter, Regis and husband, Murray LeBlanc. At a later date Mary will be brought home to rest with her loving husband, William at Lakeside Cemetary. Date and time will be announced previous to this event.
