On October 9th the community came together to help us to deal with the loss of our beautiful boy. To everyone who phoned, sent e-mails, brought food, mass cards, sympathy cards, memorial donations, floral arrangements and made contributions to the Memorial High School Scholarship fund, we thank you. We appreciate Roddie’s family and friends who traveled to be with us for support. To the EHS team, the Big Bras d’Or Fire Department, the ER staff of Northside General Hospital and the organ donation team, we send our heartfelt thanks. Fr. Jim Attwood, thanks for being there during our time of need. To Dr. Michel McKeough and Louise, thank you for your continued support. To Manning Jobes and staff, thank you for your compassion and professionalism during this difficult time. Thank you to Roddie’s cousins who created the beautiful picture collages and to Paul and Uncle Brett for gathering the mementos of Roddie’s life. Thank you to Fr. Thomas John for celebrating the funeral mass, the altar servers and Eucharistic ministers. Thank you to Uncle Purvis and cousins Sam and Toni Bianchini for presenting the offertory gifts. Thank you to the honorary pallbearers, friends, Kyle Rendell, Kyle Mac Donald, Craig Simpson and Dan Foster and cousins, Stephen Gillis and Matthew Ferguson. Thank you to the readers, Roddie’s special friend, Samantha Gracie and cousins, Lindsay LeBlanc and Jessica Gillis. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the beautiful music, St. Stephen’s Church Choir, aunt Belinda Gillis, organist David Murray, Marvin Mac Donald and The Dunn Sisters, Helen, Eileen and Mary. To our dear friend, Sharon, thank you the beautiful memories of Roddie in your eulogy. Our thanks go to the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion in Florence for the beautiful lunch following the funeral.
A special thank-you to Matthew MacLellan for your tribute CD to Roddie. We would not have survived this tragedy if it weren’t for the support of great friends. Thank you to Rick Simm, Steve MacDougall, Sharon and Paul Smith, Debbie and Darryl Rendell, Odilia Mac Donald, Kelly Unsworth, Urbie and Kimmie Day, Sandra Leblanc, Tanya McLeod, Jenna and Haley Tobin, Brenda McCarthy, Clare Bishop, Thelma and Alex Johnson, Andree Gracie, Helen Higgins, Molly’s friends and their families, the students and staff of T.L.
