We held your hand
And said it was alright
To end your journey here
And give up your fight.

Your closed your eyes
And took your last breath
Memories and dreams
Are all we have left.

We\'ll remember your strength
And the warmth of your hand
As you left this world
To go to the promised land.

From horses and buggies
To air conditioned cars
To the era when the women
Weren\'t allowed in the bars.

The changes she lived through
The hardships she had seen
Are beyond our wildest imagination
And unreachable in our dreams.

We will meet you again one day
When our time on earth is done
Till then we say goodbye
To the woman we call our Mom.

So sleep well our sweet Mama
We\'ll meet in heaven again
Oh what a woman you were
Until the very end.

Goodnight Irene
