It with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, Theresa Howley on Friday, November 6, 2009 at home surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Millville, on July 15, 1918, Theresa was the daughter of the late William Quinn and Margaret Coady and was a member of St. Joseph's church Bras d’Or. She lived her entire life in Cape Breton.
She will be deeply missed by daughter; Marguerite; sons; Grattan and Melvin; grandchildren: Renee (Harold) MacDonald, Russell (Nicole), Catherine (Glenn) Mello, Bermuda, and Mark (Tanya); sister Rita Gross, San Antonia Texas, step-brothers; Patrick Bennett and Henry Launay and four great-grandchildren.
Throughout her life Theresa was a homemaker and loved nothing more than spending time with her family and friends. She had a zest for life and could light up a room with her witty spirit and comedic personality. Her most memorable moments were spent surrounded by her close friends and family singing and dancing while guitars played in the background. She welcomed all into her home where she was never without a fresh pot of tea, homemade pies and bread. We are going to miss her smiling face and loving personality. She will be forever remembered in our hearts.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Russell, six sisters, five brothers, and daughter-in-law Susan Howley.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Francis Funeral Home Main Street in Sydney Mines. A funeral service will be held Monday, November 9, at 10:30 a.m. at the Saint Joseph's Parish Church in Bras d’Or with Father Peter McLeod officiating, with burial to follow in Saint Joseph's cemetery. A luncheon will follow at the Bras d’Or, Parish hall.
