Our beloved mother, Stella Baker, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family at the Northside Guest Home, Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2011.
Born in North Sydney, she was the daughter of the late John and Annie (Jesso) LeRoy.
A most caring and loving mother, wife and grandmother, her life was devoted to us, her children. Referred to as an angel on earth, now an angel in heaven.
Stella was a devout catholic and member of St. Joseph Church, North Sydney. Mom was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She is survived by her children, Joan Sproul, Rose (Wayne) Fraser, both of Sydney Mines, Theresa Carroll, Catalone, Tommy (Cathy), Black Rock, Bonnie (Leo) Campbell, North Sydney; her daughter-in-law, Kay Baker; 27 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, three great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Manny Baker; her son, Jimmy; brothers, Johnny and Harry; sisters, Mary Thorne, Frances Power, Lily MacDonald and Rita Hominic.
Many thanks to Dr. Mary Hutchison and the nurses and staff of the Northside Guest Home, for their care and nurturing of our mother. She loved you all!
Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Funeral mass will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, at St. Joseph Church with Rev. Patrick O’Neill, officiating. Burial will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery.
