Paul “Bunky” Leonard Boylen - It is with great sadness and sorrow that Paul Boylen, 83, of Centreville, Kings County, passed away suddenly, on November 28, 2011, surrounded by his family in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Paul was born in Vernon Mines, Kings County on January 4, 1928 to parents Leonard Boylen and Joy (Keizer). He was an active member of the Centreville Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He was baptized on April 29, 1951 and has served faithfully as a Congregation Elder for 59 years. He was loved and respected by all who had the privilege to serve along with him, especially by his wife of 63 years, Leona Boylen. His tireless service to Jehovah afforded him special opportunities, such as being the oldest Assembly Overseer in Canada until recently. Paul graduated from Nova Scotia Agricultural College, and along with his father, went on to establish a family farm on Brow of Mountain Road. The Boylen farm grew to be well respected and was known in the Agricultural community for its fine produce. This farm provided work for six generations of the Boylen family. Paul was an avid outdoorsman, with a special love in his retirement years for his garden, travelling with Leona to their favourite fishing spot in Cape Breton and entertaining his great grand children with his tireless stories of nature and animals. Paul remained healthy throughout his life, and even his first hip replacement did not dampen his love for the outdoors as he continued to ski and snow shoe. Paul is predeceased by his parents, two brothers, Max and Ralph. He is survived by his wife, Leona; his brother, Bruce of Etobicoke; his sister, Leona “Babe” Hutt (Robert), Chester Basin; his four children, Paulette Hollett (Edwin), Nathan (Margaret), Timothy (Patsy), Tammy McKay (Richard) all of Centreville; 11 grandchildren, Chantel Wilson (Chad), Jared Boylen (Michelle), Joshua Boylen (Kelcee), Chaula Stiles (Cory), Abigail DeGuire (Fraser), Anna Parsons (Toby), Chancy Hollett, Jesse Boylen (Meghan), Jotham Boylen (Megan), Jedidiah Boylen, Jonah Boylen (Cashmere); five great grandchildren, Caleb Boylen, Sawyer Boylen, Hunter Parsons, Nathan Boylen and Ivan Boylen. Paul will be missed by all that had the privilege to know him, his family, his friends and all in the community. Cremation has taken place and there was no visitation by request. A memorial service was held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 2, 2011 in the Centreville Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness, Chad Heggs officiating. A reception followed in the Centreville Community Hall. Family flowers only by request. Donations may be made to the Centerville Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. On-line inquiries and condolences may be directed to www.whitefamilyfuneralhome.com.
