Passed peacefully away at Presentation Convent, Cathedral Square, St. John’s on Sunday, November 8, 2009, Sister Mary Liguori Downey, aged 91 years. Predeceased by her parents Michael and Maude; sister Loretta; brothers: Joseph (Loretta), Cyril, Michael, Gerald (Elsa) and brother Alphonsus, CSsR. Left to mourn the Presentation sisters; one brother Bernard (Ellen), Carleton Place, Ont., her sisters: Theresa (George) Smith, Corner Brook, Marjorie (John) Moroney, London, Ont. and Christine Griffin, Coquitlam, B.C.; Sister-in-law Gladys Downey, Holyrood: Bill, Bridget and Jim Callahan and their families, many devoted nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grand-nephews, other relatives and friends. The wake will be held at Presentation Motherhouse, Cathedral Square, St. John’s. Visiting hours are on Monday, from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Vigil service at 8 p.m. on Tuesday. Mass of Christian burial at the Basilica of St. John the Baptist on Wednesday, November 11 at 9:30 a.m. with interment to follow at Presentation Cemetery, Cathedral Square.
