It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dear mother, Kay O’Leary (nee Downey) of Topsail, on the 6th of December, 2011, age 87. She was predeceased by her husband Bill O’Leary in 1982, her brother Bill Downey and her sister Gertrude Stamp. She was a kind and loving mother to her six children, David (Connie), Dianne (Everett Price), Kevin (Karen), Jeanette (Boyd Martin), Bill (Bonnie) and Elaine (Eric Cook); a cherished grandmother to her 9 grandchildren, Elaine Barnes-Kriel (Anton) and Daniel Barnes, Shaun and Paul O’Leary, Caitlin and Liam O’Leary, Claire Martin and Brad and Rachel O’Leary; also her great-grandchild, Angelika Barnes-Kriel, all of who will miss her deeply. Also survived by her 5 sisters, Margaret Mahoney, Mary Morris (John), Isabella Ashley, Anita Perran and Rose Perran and the many members of the O’Leary and Downey extended families. Mom was also fortunate to have special neighbors in Mike and Agnes Corcoran, a friendship she held very dear to her heart. With the utmost sincerity we would like to thank Dr. Squarey and the doctors and staff of the Neurology Unit at the Health Sciences for everything they did for mom over this past number of days. A special thank you goes out to the nurses of that unit for the comfort and care they gave her and our family during this most trying of times. Visitation will take place at Caul’s Funeral Home, Lemarchant Road on Wednesday, December 7 from 2 p.m. -4 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. and again on Thursday, December 8 from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will take place at St. Patrick’s Church on Friday, December 9th, at 9:30 a.m. Internment at the R.C Cemetery in Topsail. Flowers gratefully accepted or a donation in her memory can be made to VOWR Radio or a charity of your choice.
