Passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord, surrounded by her loving family, at the L.A. Miller Centre, on December 8, 2011, Effie Gladys Matthews, age 92 years. Predeceased by her husband Walter (1983), son-in-law Raymond (1994), two brothers, and three sisters. Leaving to mourn her family Lloyd (Jean), David (Sharrell), Lois (Carter), Eunice, Paul (Tina), Timothy (Allyn), Cheryl (Ralph), and Fung Chu; 19 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters; and 2 brothers. Mother was a most gracious, beautiful, and caring mother and grandmother. Her
example of Christian Faith and Christ-like character will forever be her enduring legacy to her family. Special thanks to the staff at Ruby Manor for their exemplary care during the past five years. Also, deeply appreciated are her many friends who visited her regularly over the past several years - your thoughtfulness and kindness will always be remembered. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, on Thursday, December 8, from 7-9 p.m., Friday, December 9, from 2-9 p.m., and on Saturday, December 10, from 9-11 a.m. Funeral service will be held at Bethesda Pentecostal Church, MacDonald Drive, on Saturday, December 10, 2011, at 2:00 p.m., with interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
