ARTHUR ROBERT TAYLOR

It is with heavy hearts the family announces the passing of Arthur Robert (Bob) Taylor on Monday, November 9, 2009 at Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice House.
Bob is survived by his loving wife Marjorie, his children Linda (Doug) Thomson, Robert (Roberta), Barry (Selena), Sue (Phil) Lingren, Debbie (Paul) Nadeau, step-daughter Janette (Dan) Speller, step-son Tom (Laine) Robinson. He will also be remembered by his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his sister Irene in 1994.
Bob was born in Kamloops and lived in the area near Pioneer Park. He attended school here until the family moved to Vancouver when he was a teenager. He worked in Vancouver and joined the RCAF in 1942 serving until 1945. When he married he returned to Kamloops to raise his family living in Valleyview.
He worked at DND Navy Depot 1949 - 1964. When that closed he moved to Mt. LoLo as Deputy Fire Chief in 1964 until retiring in 1980. In his work he received many prestigious awards including the Merit Award in 1974 and Queen's Jubilee Medal in 1977. He was also a volunteer fireman in Valleyview and Dallas.
He built his retirement home on the river in Monte Creek where he spent many happy years. Bob was an avid outdoors person and spent many great times with his hunting partner Larry Jensen. He also enjoyed travelling especially cruises and trips to Las Vegas.
Bob was a kind, gentle, loving husband and father. A gentleman in every sense.
The service will be held at Schoening Funeral Service, 513 Seymour Street, Kamloops, B.C., on Saturday, November 14, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Al Hearn officiating.
