Raymond J. Cormier, 91 of Grand Etang, Inverness County, passed away suddenly Dec. 9, 2011, in Grand Etang.
Born in Belle Cote, he was the son of the late Joseph and Nellie (LeBlanc) Cormier.
He was a veteran of the Second World War where he served from 1939-45. He was a member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 32, Cheticamp. Raymond worked in Waltham, Mass., as a welder then returned back to Cape Breton in 1971.
He is survived by his wife, Myrna (Manard) Cormier; brother, Leo Cormier, Waltham, Mass.; and sister, Annie Cormier, Foyer Père Fist, Cheticamp.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Wilbert, Alfred and Linus, three sisters, Sabina Chiasson, Sr. Lillian Cormier and Florence LeBlanc.
Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Margaree, with Fr. Doug MacDonald officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Cheticamp Funeral Services Ltd.
