The death occurred at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Monday, November 9, 2009, of Maurice Addison Birt of Montague, age 72. Beloved father of Glen MacKenzie, Doreen MacKenzie, Rick Birt and Ira Birt. Loving Grampie of Michelle and Melissa MacKenzie, Sarah and Rebecca Wilson and Brandon MacKenzie. Also survived by great-grandchildren Ashlyn Wilson and Blake MacKenzie and brothers Leonard and Roy Birt. Predeceased by parents Samuel and Annie (Mitchell) Birt, daughter Betty Lynn MacKenzie, sister Stella Griffin and brother Cecil Birt. Private family graveside service will be held on Thursday, November 12, at 3:30 p.m. at the Belfast Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations gratefully accepted to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
