The death of Mollie Jones, age 87, of Fredericton and formerly of Amherst, NS, occurred at the Pine Grove Nursing Home, Fredericton, on Saturday December 10, 2011.
Born in Amherst she was a daughter of the late William and Estelle (Bowles) Jones.
Mollie was educated in Amherst Senior High School and was a graduate of the St. Charles Commercial School. In 1945 she moved to Toronto where she was an active member of Grant A.M.E. Church and an active member of the Ontario Liberal Party. Returning to Amherst she attended Trinity St. Stephen's United Church, was a former director of the Canadian Bible Society (Amherst Chapter) and a member of Cumberland Colchester and Cumberland North Liberal Assoc.
Mollie is survived by her sister, Elizabeth (Betty) Jones, New York, NY, USA, a special friend, Amos Adeniyi, and several nieces and nephews, as well as exceptional friends.
She was predeceased by a sister Thelma, brothers, Russell, Ivan and Nathanial.
Mollie's remains have been entrusted into the care of the Furlong Jones Funeral Home, Amherst from where a time of visitation will be held on Wednesday from 7 to 9 pm. Funeral service will be held at the Amherst A.M.E. Church on Thursday, December 15, 2011 at 2 pm. Burial in the Amherst Cemetery.
