McPHERSON - Mr. John (Jack) McPherson aged 89 years of Swift Current, SK, and formerly of Admiral, SK, died on Friday, November 6, 2009, at the Cypress Regional Hospital in Swift Current. He was born at Admiral on May 26, 1920. He attended Admiral, Sherman and Blairville schools. He stayed with Mr. and Mrs. Bob Buckingham from 1931 to 1939. He served in World War II from 1942 to 1946 with the Kings Own Rifle Corp. Jack married Peggy Stone in Cadillac, SK, on November 25, 1948. He worked as a telephone lineman. In 1952, they bought the Tom Barton farm and lived there until retirement in 1997 when they moved to Swift Current. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. He was predeceased by his wife, Betty Jane (Peggy) on September 1, 1997; his parents, Frank and Pearl; two brothers, Don and Art; and one sister, Charlotte. He is survived by his son John (Jackie) of Swift Current; his sister Edith Lacey (Wilfred), of Winnipeg, MB; his sister-in-law Lorraine McPherson of Sanford, MB, his brother-in-law Ralph Stone (Ruby) of Admiral; as well as by numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, November 10, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. from St. Andrew’s United Church in Admiral, SK, with Reverend Bev Diduck officiating. Interment took place at Admiral Cemetery at Admiral. Binkley’s Funeral Service of Shaunavon (www.Binkleys.com) was in charge of the arrangements. Pallbearers were Don Garthus, Garry Rettenmier, Allan Unger, Carl Klein, Lyle Modien and Cameron McPherson.
