Horace Edwin Cox born July 6, 1920 died November 10, 2009. Horace or Papa as he is known to his family was predeceased by his wife of 49 years Evelyn (Perry) on November 11, 1997. Left to mourn are his three daughters: Patricia Lien, her children Jade Clewis (Justin) and their children Kale and Mason, son Jordan, and their father Greg Lien, also Peggy Brinton her son Justin Guillaume (Kim), Brenda Slade (Phil) and their children Ashley (Derek), Marc, Haley. Also left to mourn are dear friend Irene Craig, brother Wally (Lorraine) Cox, brother-in-law Calvin (Linda) Perry as well as many nieces and nephews. Papa was born in Swift Current and raised in Ernfold, Sask. He joined the RCAF from 1941 to 1945 and served most of his time in England. After his discharge he returned to Ernfold and worked at the Post Office. He dated and eventually married Evelyn Perry in 1948. They settled in Moose Jaw where Horace worked at the Post Office till his retirement in 1981. Horace and Evelyn raised three daughters and enjoyed all the action they brought to their lives. Horace and Evelyn could be seen most Saturday nights dancing at the Legion or Army and Navy Vets. Papa enjoyed his retirement. Time was spent traveling, bowling, dancing and puttering in the yard. Most of all Papa enjoyed following the activities of his grandchildren. Never missing a concert or sporting activity. His final years were spent at "The Bentley" where he enjoyed being surrounded by his many friends. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E. Padre Doug Shepherd will officiate. Royal Canadian Legion Funeral Rites will be conducted by Chuck MacMillan, Moose Jaw Branch No. 59. Interment will follow at Ernfold Cemetery In honour of his kind and compassionate nature, please forward donations in Horace's memory to the Moose Jaw Humane Society.
