The death occurred at the South Shore Villa, Crapaud, on Thursday, November12, 2009, of Bea Bernard, formerly of Hunter River, age 98. Beatrice was the wife of the late Willard Bernard and the daughter of the late Donald and Cecilia (White) MacLeod. She was the beloved mother of Clifford (Carol); mother-in-law of Eileen; grandmother of Wendy Hoben, Cathy Sansom (Charlie), Terry Bernard, Jason Bernard-Dunsford and Sean Gauthier; step-grandmother of Jimmie (Shelly), John, Scott and Jeff Gauthier; great-grandmother of Gregory and Shawn Hoben and Michael, Teryl and Myles Sansom; and step-great-grandmother of Jessica Gauthier and Tony, Alex and Essa Gauthier. Bea was a special mother to Suzanne, Margaret and David. She is also survived by numerous sisters and brothers-in-law; nieces; and nephews. Besides her husband and her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Donald; grandson, Danny Hoben; granddaughter, Debbie Bernard; sister, Mae Petrie, brother, Murdock MacLeod; and two half-brothers, George Martell and Henry Miller. Resting at Central Queen’s Funeral Home, 2538 Glasgow Road, New Glasgow, for visitation on Sunday, November 15, 2009, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Central Queen’s Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, November 16, 2009 at 3 p.m. Interment in Hunter River United Church Cemetery.
