PEET (Butler), Marjorie Eleanor – It is with great sadness that the family of Marjorie Eleanor (Butler) Peet announce her passing at the age of 88, after a brief illness in Dartmouth General Hospital on November 11, 2009, with her loving family by her side. Marjorie was the beloved wife of Samuel Peet. Along with Sam, she is lovingly remembered by their children, daughters: Sandra Lambie (James), Dartmouth, Janet Pratt ( Peter), Newmarket, Ont.: sons: Gregg Peet (Carol), Ken Peet (Iris) and Stanleigh Peet (Janis), all of Dartmouth. She will also be fondly remembered by her grandchildren: Janet Bryson (Steve Myrer), Sean Bryson, Alan Pratt (Daryl), Michael Pratt (Misty), Dan Peet (Lori), Tami Peet, Erin Peet, Gregg Peet (Deidre) and Mallory Peet and Taylor Peet. Marjorie had nine great-grandchildren: Ryan and Ben Myrer, Page, Laiken, Nolan and Sophie Pratt, Owen and Oliver Pratt and Madeline Peet. Marjorie will also be missed by several nieces and nephews who gave her many wonderful memories. Marjorie was predeceased by three sisters and three brothers. She was born in St. John's, NL., on April 4, 1921. She was a daughter of the late Joseph Boyd Butler and Ann Ross Taylor, whom she dearly loved. She was proud of her homeland and returned whenever she could. She loved to tell tales of spending time "up at the cabin" at Nine Island Pond, NL., and of her family home on Casey Street. In 1936, she met and later married Sam and they spent 68 years together. Marjorie was happiest spending time with Sam and her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved visits from family members from Newfoundland. She enjoyed playing the piano and could be encouraged to play the "spoons" at gatherings. Her garden gave her many hours of great joy. She loved to read and was particularly fond of Margaret Laurence's, "The Stone Angel". Mom will be greatly missed. A service in memory of Marjorie will be held on Monday, November 16 at 10 a.m. in the chapel in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth, N. S., with Rev. Patricia Malin officiating. A reception will follow. Interment will take place in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. Special thanks to all the caregivers of Bisset Court, Conrad Lane, for the love and kindness they showed to Marjorie during her brief stay there. Thanks also to Dartmouth General Hospital Emergency Dept. and #3 East Palliative Care doctors and nursing staff for the personal respect they showed the Peet family, and for their dedicated and compassionate care of Marjorie, which allowed her to pass in peace and with dignity. If desired, donations in Marjorie’s memory may be made to Dartmouth General Hospital, Palliative Care Services. On-line condolences may be made at: www.atlanticfuneralhomes.com
