WHALEN, Madonna Regina (Oakley) – May 31, 1959 - November 12, 2009. Madonna’s journey through life was cut short following a courageous battle with breast cancer. Donna brought much joy, love and inspiration to her beloved husband Lawrence; devoted children: Kelly (Chuck), Lawrence Jr. (Jennifer) and Trevor; Nanny’s angels: Charles Jr. (C.J.), Andrew, William and Layden; sisters: Barbara (Rhymes), Peggy, Andrea, Brenda, Debbie and Darlene; brother Mark; step-sisters: Betty (Karl), Charmaine and Joanne; step-brothers: Harry (Gail), John (Tina), Jim (Sharon), David (Margie) and Albert (Carolyn) Summers; as well as a large circle of relatives and friends. Waiting for Donna as she completed her struggle were the loving arms of her father Andrew Oakley; step-mother Josephine; mother Agatha; brother James and mother-in-law Frances Jean Whalen. No visitation by request. Mass of Christian burial will take place on Monday, November 16, 2009 at 9:30 a.m. from St. Paul’s Church, Newfoundland Drive. Inurnment to follow at St. Thomas of Villa Nova Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation.
