RUSHTON, Curtis Wilbert – 65, The Mira Long Term Care Centre, Truro, formerly of Amherst, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday, December 18, 2011, at VG Site, QEII, Halifax. Born October 4, 1946, in Truro, he was a son of the late Cecil and Lena (Scott) Rushton and stepson of the late Frances (Babineau) Rushton. Over the years, Curtis worked at many different occupations, including: Truro Police Services, Spencer Brothers and Turner (Eddy Group), Centennial Cinemas, Kohler Insulation and Thermocell. He enjoyed playing darts and football in his earlier years. Curtis is survived by his son, Lewis (Laureen) Rushton and their son, Lucas, Belmont; daughter, Cindy (Craig) Kivi, Hilden; sister, Doreen (Ron) Smith, Parrsboro; brothers, Carl, Portapique; Dean (Linda), Terry (Debbie), Highland Village; Fred (Helen), Lower Sackville; Larry (Darlene), Provost, Alberta; stepsons, Shawn Chapman, Riverview, New Brunswick; Jason Chapman, Amherst; stepgrandchildren, Katra, Shania, Brady, Acadia, Zachary; several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents and stepmother, he was predeceased by his wife, Linda (Rector); daughter, Carla; sister, Betty; brothers, Richard, Chesley. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Curtis’ family will receive friends from 2-4, 7-9 p.m., Tuesday, December 20, 2011, and where the funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, December 21, 2011, Pastor Steve Adams officiating. Reception will follow. Spring interment in Amherst Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Curtis’ memory to Canadian Diabetes Association, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or Kidney Foundation of Canada, Nova Scotia Chapter are welcomed.
