A loving wife, devoted mother, beloved sister, cherished aunt, adored grandmother, trusted and loyal friend Mary Elwin MacDonald died at Prince County Hospital, on Nov. 13, 2009. Mary Elwin was born Jan. 16, 1917 and grew up in Wellington Center. A daughter of the late Charles Ayers and Isabelle Goodwin, Mary Elwin always credited her parents for her gift of faith, love of people and her tenacity and resilience through difficult times. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred MacDonald, her brothers, Hubert, Bert, Rev Leonard J. Ayers, her sister, Pearl MacLellan, son, Owen MacDonald, son-in-law, Pierre Paquin, and grandchildren, Stevie and Lisa MacDonald. She will be sadly missed by her brother Jim (Anita) Ayers. Forever grateful for the generosity of her abundant love, are her children: Leonard (Marg) MacDonald, Peggy (Paul) Deschambault, Wilma (Gordon) Norton, Allan (Debbie) MacDonald, Marie (Charles) McKenna, John (Cathy) MacDonald, daughter-in-law, Gail Ross, daughter of the heart, Verden Coughlin. She delighted in the warm relationships she fostered and maintained with her 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren and proudly shared their accomplishments. She will be fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews, that she always kept close to her heart. Visitation will be held on Monday, Nov. 16, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Evangeline Funeral Home, Urbainville. Funeral mass will be celebrated at the Immaculate Conception Church on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. Donations in Mary Elwin’s memory may be made to Immaculate Conception Cemetery Fund or any charity of your choice.
