TRENTON –  Kenneth Ellis “Slim” Maguire, 76, of 1 Glass Street, Trenton, died Saturday, November 14, 2009, at home.
Born in North Battleford, Saskatchewan, he was a son of the late Frederick and Elenora (Hill) Maguire.
Ken was a resident of Trenton for the past 13 years. During his working years, he was employed as a mechanic and carpenter and was an avid bike rider.
Ken was a musician for many years, played many instruments and travelled between Canada and the United States.
In 1974, the Governor of Kentucky made him an honorary Kentucky Colonel for his volunteer work.
He is survived by his wife, the former Sandy Sutherland, Trenton; a son, Shawn (Simone), Ontario; daughters, Sherry (Ward) Taylor, Ontario; and Pamela Maguire, Ontario; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; several neices and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Mickey.
Cremation to take place. There will be no visitation or service at the request of the family. A private family committal service will be held at a later date.
Donations in memory of Ken may be made to the Lodge that Gives or to the Palliative Care Society of the Aberdeen Hospital.
Arrangements are under that direction of the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
