At the Western Hospital, Alberton, with his family by his side, on Thursday April 24, 2008, of Benjamin Joseph Waite of the Maplewood Manor, Alberton, and formerly of St. Rock, in his 89th year. Predeceased by his wife, the former Josephine (nee Arsenault) Waite. Born Sept. 1, 1918, he was the son of the late William and Catherine (nee Perry) Waite. Lovingly remembered by his children William (Patsy) of Darthmouth, N.S.; Lorraine (Keith) Hardy of Peterbrough, Ont.; Florence (Louis) Gavin of Ascension; Bobby (Theresa) of St. Rock; Howard (Lillian) of Alberton; Donald (Rosie) of St. Rock; Irene (John) Johnson of Calgary, Alta.; Marie (Floyd) Gaudet of St. Rock; and Philip (Gloria) of St. Rock. He will be sadly missed by his 23 grandchildren as well as his 18 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a cousin Alice (Overbeck) Gaudet of Rhode Island and friend Gordon Perry of Saint John, N.B. He was predeceased by his sister Annie DesRoches and by siblings in infancy. Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home, Alberton. Funeral on Monday morning from St. Simon and St. Jude Church, Tignish, for funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment later in the church cemetery.
