Lloyd, Gladys Ruth, 87 - Truro, passed away on Sunday, November 15, 2009 at Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro. Born September 1, 1922, she was the daughter of the late John and Alice (Elliott) Lloyd. Gladys lived most of her life in Bible Hill. She worked many years at Roby’s Studio, Truro before taking a teaching position at the Nova Scotia Youth Training Center in Bible Hill. Gladys was a member of First United Church, Truro, where she taught Sunday School and CGIT for many years; a member of the UCW and served as president of the Women’s Institute; a member of the Hannah Unit of St. David’s United Church and a member of the True Blue Orange of Good Templar. Gladys was always busy crocheting lap robes for churches, hospitals and nursing homes, which she loved giving away, all for free. She was a warm soft spoken lady, and great writer with pen pals all over the world, all of whom were also born on September 1, 1922. Many still were writing to her when she passed. Gladys is survived by her sister, Aileen (Gordon) Byers, New Hampshire, USA; nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and many helpers. She was predeceased by brother, Jack Lloyd. Arrangements entrusted to Colchester Community Funeral Home, Truro. Cremation has taken place. A graveside committal will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, November 20 at Watson Cemetery. Special thanks to Marion Elliott, Dr.Makkar, Smokeys, VON, Cedarstone care givers and to everyone who knew and loved her.
