MARTIN, Donald Laverne - It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Donald Martin of Scott's Bay on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at the QE11 Health Sciences Centre, Halifax in his 85th year with his daughter and granddaughter at his side. Donald is survived by his daughter, Beverly (Preston) Huntley of Scott's Bay with whom Don resided; sons, Michael of North Bay, Ontario and George (Pat) of Scott's Bay; seven grandchildren, Melissa (Bill) Ellis and their children, Michael and Megan of Halifax; Mavis Huntley of Bowmanville, Ontario; Michael and Stephan Martin of Hamilton, Ontario and Stephanie Martin (Jay Leveiller) and their son, Jordan of Sudbury, Ontario; the late Charlotte Martin and her children, Tamara and Brittany of Kentville and Joseph Martin (Holly O'Connell) and their children, Stephanie and Nicholas of Gaspereau; two brothers, Wayne (Marilyn) Martin and Earl (late Joyce) Martin both of Grimsby, Ontario. Donald was an electrician his whole life until he retired to Nova Scotia in 1980. Donald was predeceased by his wife of 60 years Alice (Robinson) (2009) and his parents Merlin and Blanche (Felker) Martin. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville and there will be no visitation by family request. A celebration of Don's life will be held at the Scott's Bay Union Church with Reverend June Keddy officiating on Wednesday, December 21st at 2pm. A reception followed. Internment will take place in Queen's Lawn Cemetery, Grimsby, Ontario at a later date with his wife Alice by his side. Donations in memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
