It is with deep sorrow that our family announces that Laura Philomena "Phil" Hawco, 62, died December 17th, 2011, following a courageous battle with a short term illness. Born in Edmonton, AB and growing up in Corner Brook, NL, she was the youngest daughter of Leonard and Marion (Cantwell) Hawco. Phil graduated from St. John's General Hospital with her R.N. and practiced nursing for 30 years. She was also the Director of Nursing at Western Memorial Hospital for over 10 years. She recently moved to Dartmouth, NS from Hamilton, ON with her sister, Carol Ann Andrew. Surviving are sisters, Carol Ann Andrew, Dartmouth, Rae Foshay Langille, River John; brothers, Gerard Hawco (Gillian), David Hawco (Shirley), both of Alberta. She was predeceased by her loving sister, Marlen Barrett. Her close nieces and nephews will miss her dearly and include; Ingrid (Shane), Cole, Chase, Julia, Heidi (Derrick), Jared, Nathaniel, Tristan, Anna (Bill), Liam, Riley, Stephen, Christal, Charlen, Andrea, Christine, Suzanne and Sara. A private family funeral has taken place.
