Francis Gregory ‘Greg’ Oldfield, 70, of Grand Mira North, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Toronto, he was the son of the late Cliff and Agnes Oldfield.
Greg worked as a produce manager for 15 years and then owned and operated his own property maintenance business.
He loved animals, fishing, gardening, woodcarving, music, playing the violin and dancing.
Greg was passionate in his communion and understanding of nature and what it teaches us.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ellen (Moore) Oldfield; daughters, Angela Boyd (Brian) and Karen Farmer (Alan), sons, Glen and Kevin Oldfield, Barry Farmer (Kim), all of Ontario; and his eight grandchildren whom he loved dearly.
Besides his parents, Greg was predeceased by an infant brother, Jesse and a daughter, Kelly.
Visitation for Greg will be held from 1 p.m., Friday, Nov. 20 until funeral time at 2 p.m. with Rev. Peter MacDonald officiating in T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel, Sydney. Committal service will take place in Ontario at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
