Leonard Fenton
FENTON, LEONARD JAMES - Leonard James Fenton, 88, of Fundy Manor, Hillsborough and formerly of Riverside-Albert passed away peacefully at the Moncton Hospital on December 28th, 2011 with his family by his side.
Leonard was born in Germantown on August 24th, 1923 the son of the late Joseph and Sarah (Martin) Fenton. Leonard was member of the Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Riverside-Albert. He was a woodsman and worked for the Department of Transportation for 28 years before retiring. He was known in the community for his kind and caring ways, he also had a great sense of humor and loved to tease. Leonard really enjoyed music and travelled to the music festivals in the area his favorite being fiddle music. He was also a family man above all things he loved his family very much, he was always talking about all their accomplishments, he was very proud of each and every one of them. He was also very excited and anxiously awaiting the arrival of his new grandchild, there will definitely be another guardian angel looking over this little one. He was also an avid card player and we hope he is playing his best hand ever with his loved ones that have gone before him. He will be remembered fondly by all who knew him." He will be deeply missed by his daughters, Ethel Horsman (Bob) of Meductic and Rosella Campbell of Saint John; sons, Marty Fenton ( Irina) of Moncton and step-son, Mark Chappell (Anita) of Tilley, Alberta; 11 precious grandchildren and 15 treasured great-grandchildren; three cherished great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Ardith Fenton of Moncton; step sisters-in-law, Kay Duffy of Hopewell Hill, Tabeta Duffy of Ontario and Dorena Duffy of Riverside-Albert. He will also be missed by his father-in-law, Murray G. Chappell of Moncton and all of his extended family, the Chappell Family and by several nieces, nephews and many good friends.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his step-mother, Susie (Dornan- Duffy) Fenton his first wife, Alyeen (Douthwright) Fenton and second wife, Beth (Chappell) Fenton; son, James Fenton; son-in-law, Angus Campbell; sisters, Mildred Fenton and Marion Black (Russell); brother, Clement Fenton; step brothers, Vincent Duffy, Frances Duffy, James Duffy and George Duffy.
He will be resting at the Albert County Funeral Home with visitation on Friday, December 30th, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. Parish Prayers and a time of sharing memories will take place at the funeral home on Friday evening at 8:30pm. The Funeral Mass will be held at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church on Saturday, December 31st, 2011 at 11:00am with Father Phil Mulligan officiating. Interment will be in the Holy Ghost Catholic Cemetery, Hopewell Hill, NB.
