The death occurred peacefully at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Friday, May 2, 2008 of Edith Gertrude Bowness (nee Whitehead) of 240 C LeFurgey Ave. Summerside, P.E.I., aged 85 years. Edith was the last surviving member of the family of the late John W. and Etta Iza (Heaney) Whitehead. Edith was born in Clinton, P.E.I. on May 30, 1922. Loving wife of the late Lloyd George Bowness and loving mother of Elizabeth (John) Walker, Summerside, Eleanor (Al) Pasanen, Courtney, B.C., Kenneth (Donna) Chilliwack, B.C., Barry (Susan), Summerside and Kathy (Dan) Higgins, Fort Smith, NWT. Also lovingly remembered by her 14 grandchildren, her 18 great-grandchildren, her one great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Joan (Russ) Fulton, U.S.A. Besides her parents, Edith was predeceased by her brothers and sisters: Harry, Verna, Lena, Grace, Armel, Lois and Mildred. Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside, until Wednesday, May 7, 2008, for memorial service at the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m. Visiting hours Tuesday 7-9 p.m. only.
