VICTOR MAURICE SOUTHIN

May 28, 1921 – December 23, 2011
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. After a lengthy illness, Vic passed away peacefully at St. Mary’s Hospital. Our daughter Wendy tragically predeceased him in 2010.
Vic, a bomber pilot in the RAF during WWII, emigrated to Montreal, Quebec with his wife Gwen and their two small sons, Roger and Stephen in September, 1952. Wendy and Peter, born in Montreal, soon completed the family.
After working at Canadair in Montreal as an aeronautical engineer for 30 years, Vic and Gwen retired to the Sunshine Coast in 1982 where they have made many friends.
Vic was a Mason, and a member of the Mount Elphinstone Lodge #130 and Mount Elphinstone Chapter #65 E.O.S.
He will be sadly missed by his wife Gwen, sons Roger (Nicole), Stephen (Maggie) and Peter, son-in-law David, grandchildren Karen (Thomas), Paul, Trevor, Nicholas, Taylor, Adrian, Arlyss, Conner, Elizabeth, and Josh, and great-grandson Samuel.
A memorial service for Vic will be held at St. Hilda’s Church on Saturday, January 14 at 1:00 p.m, followed by a reception in the church hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the BC Cancer Society would be appreciated.
