On Wednesday, November 18, 2009, Stew, at the age of 82, passed away at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital after a long illness. Born November 9, 1927 in Moose Jaw, he received his education at Prince Arthur School and Peacock Collegiate. Stew began his apprenticeship at Baylis Heating & Plumbing where he worked at the plumbing, heating and gas fitting trade for over 45 years, retiring from Moose Jaw Heating & Plumbing. He is predeceased by his parents Tom and Alice, his only brother Tom and niece Colleen. Stew is survived by Dorothy, his loving wife of 62 years; son Stewart (Irene) and their children Michael and Elyse of Calgary; daughter Sherry (Doug) Hetherington and their children Mark (Jodie) of Moose Jaw and Kerri (Andy) of Toronto; daughter Sandy Milligan of Montreal; great-grandchildren Jacob, Alyssa, and Lukas Hetherington of Moose Jaw. Stew was an avid reader and made many trips to the Library. He enjoyed watching football on TV and making small bets with family. The Celebration of George’s Life will be held at W.J. Jones & Son Chapel on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. Della Ferguson will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Sask. Heart & Stroke Foundation, 279 - 3rd Ave. N., Saskatoon, S7K 2H8, would be appreciated. In living memory of Stew, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
