Raftus
The death occurred peacefully at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, P.E.I. on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012 of Marie Theresa “Lorraine” Raftus (nee Gaudet) of Summerside and formerly of Lakeland, Florida, U.S.A., aged 82 years. Lorraine was born on June 24, 1929 in St. Nicholas, P.E.I. to her late parents Anthony and Albina (nee Arsenault) Gaudet. Beloved mother of David Raftus of West Gardiner, Maine, U.S.A., loving grandmother of Randi (Steve) Perry, Dawn (Donald) Hamlin, David T. Raftus and Danielle Raftus (Brian Twitchell) and great-grandmother of Cole, Rylie, Owen and Zane. Survived by the following brothers and sisters: Gus (Marie) Gaudet, Al (Helene) Gaudet, Sister Della Gaudet, Gerard (Janet) Gaudet, Adrian Gaudet and Teresa (Richard) Arsenault. Besides her parents, Lorraine was predeceased by David’s father Howard Raftus and her brothers Lionel, Armand, Reg and Lionel Gaudet and her sister Louise Gaudet. Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, then to St. Paul’s Church, Summerside for a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment to take place in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Miscouche. Visiting hours on Sunday afternoon only, 2-4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Lorraine’s memory to the Prince County Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
