CROWELL, Eldon Zane – 79, passed away peacefully at home in East Kemptville surrounded by his immediate family on Saturday, December 31, 2011. Born November 23, 1932 in Kemptville, he was a son of the late Arthur and Stella (Roberts) Crowell. Eldon was a woodsman most of his life. He also worked for the Department of Lands and Forest and the Department of Transportation. One of his enjoyments was singing and playing guitar, which he acquired by the many sing-songs in his family home. He loved being at the camp, whether he was hunting, fishing, having a game of crib or just sitting on the veranda watching the river, that was his favourite place to be. He enjoyed family gatherings and always welcomed his friends when they dropped in for a visit. There will be many family and friends happy to meet him in Heaven, but he will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Roberts); daughters, Angel (Donnie), Stephanie (Donald) and Tina (Rick); sons, Darrell (Sheila) and Philip; brother, Arthur Jr.; sisters, Shirley Crowell and Vera Mood; as well as the proud grandfather of 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by sister, Clara; brothers, Neil, Earle and Calvin; daughter-in-law, Judy. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home & Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation took place Tuesday, January 3 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel, where funeral service was held Wednesday, January 4 at 2 p.m., Pastor Joey Ring and Pastor Rick Warner officiated. Interment will take place at a later date. Family flowers only, please. Donations in Eldon’s memory may be made to the Canadian Red Cross or to Victorian Order of Nurses, Tri-County Branch.
