JOUDREY (Richards), Ella Julia Elizabeth – 85, Truro, passed away peacefully, with her loving family at her side, on Wednesday evening, January 4, 2012, at Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born January 4, 1927, in Otterbrook, she was a daughter of the late James and Eliza (Nichols) Tree. Julia was a member of Wentworth United Church, where she was a member of the UCW. She later transferred her membership to Brunswick Street United Church. She was an avid flower gardener and also enjoyed cross-stitch, needlepoint, knitting and quilting. Julia is survived by her husband, W. Russell Joudrey; children, Gerald (Jacqueline) Richards, Portapique; Gordon Richards, Bible Hill; Ronald Richards, Vegreville, Alberta; David (Anita) Richards, Truro; grandchildren, Julie (Paul), Tracey (Casey), Geremy, Gregg (Jacqueline), Tiffany (Mario), Troy (Erin), Jason (Erica), Traci (Gerald); step-children, Stephen Joudrey, North River; Scott (Trudy) Joudrey, Bible Hill; Patricia (Terry) Cooke, Highland Village; Elizabeth (Doug) Langille, Truro; Carolyn (Martin) O’Hagan, Whitehorse, Yukon; several step grandchildren, nieces and nephews; sister, Vivian Sheehan, New Glasgow; brother, Jim Tree, Pictou. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her son, John Richards; sisters, Hattie Millen, Gwen Hamilton, Grace Richards, May Fulton; brothers, John, William “Bill”, Hance, Carl and Hedley Tree. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Julia’s family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m., Sunday, January 8, 2012, and where the funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Monday, January 9, 2012, Reverend Morley Bentley officiating. Reception will follow. Spring interment will be held in Pine Grove Cemetery, Stewiacke East. Family flowers only.
