Roland Vesey passed away on November 23, 2009 in Phoenix, AZ while holidaying with his daughter. He was born October 6, 1915 in Shamrock RM, SK, one of 9 children. Roland served in the Armed Forces for 4 years and then moved to California where he operated a Safeway Store and a Seven Eleven for 40 years. When his first wife passed away he moved back to Saskatchewan to Moose Jaw where he resided until his passing. He was president of the Canadian Legion while living in California and was invited to meet the Queen and Prince Phillip. He was a life member of the Legion. Predeceased by his first wife, Laura (Hildebrand), second wife Blanche (Groth), he is survived by his wife Phyll (Low) (Sawin) of Moose Jaw, son Donald (Teddi) Vesey of Quail Valley, California, daughter, Janice (Rich) Tamburro of Sun City West, Arizona, four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, brother, Duane (Eleanor) Vesey of Shamrock; two sisters, Carol Riecken of Davidson and Joyce Idt of Hodgeville; brother-in-law, Butch (Barb) Sawin of Mossbank and seven step-children, as well as many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Tea will be held at Timothy Eaton Gardens in the Card Room and Lounge on Friday November 27, 2009 from 2 to 4 pm with a short service at 3:00 pm. Interment will be held at a later date in California. In lieu of flowers, donations to Timothy Eaton Gardens 510 Main Street North, Moose Jaw, S6H 3K3 or Hospice of Arizona, 2222 West Northern Avenue, Suite (A - 100), Phoenix, Arizona, 85021 would be greatly appreciated.
