It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the sudden passing of our father, Tadeusz ‘Ted’ Dobrowolski, age 87, a resident of Mill Creek, on Monday, Nov. 23, 2009.
Born in the Ukraine, Ted was the son of the late Joseph and Rose Dobrowolski and was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was employed as a stevedore with Marine Atlantic for 37 years until his retirement and for many years he operated a small farm in Mill Creek. He was a member of the Bras d’Or Pensioners Club and the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #19, and a union member of the International Longshoreman Association. He was a member of St. Joseph Church, Bras d’Or.
He is survived by Anna Dobrowolski of Porters Lake, the mother of his six children, Rosie MacQueen, Calgary, Joseph (Joyce), Ottawa, Linda (Jay) McDonald, Calgary, James Michael (Barbara), Halifax, Francis William (Julie), Mill Creek, John (Angie), St. Margarets Bay, his 10 grandchildren, Noel MacLean, Chrisanna, Sarah, Jenny Dobrowolski, Kenny MacQueen, Shirleen and Brandon MacDonald, T.J., Francis and Jennifer Lynn Dobrowolski and his companion, Stella ‘Daisy’ Edmunds .
He was predeceased by his brothers, Bernard and Francis and a sister, Aggie.
Visitation for Ted was held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. today (Friday) at St. Joseph Church, Bras d’Or with Rev. Peter MacLeod officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney.
