The death occurred peacefully at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012 of Robert Joseph McGraw, of Summerside, and formerly of N.B., veteran of the Second World War, aged 87 years. Robert was born on Sept. 26, 1924 in Brunswick, Maine, U.S.A. to his late parents David and Judith (nee Bulger) McGraw. Beloved husband of Emma (nee Gallant) McGraw and loving father of Linda (Gary) Lowther of Cavendish, P.E.I. Survived by his sister Lydia Harper of ON. and brother Stanley McGrath of N.B. Also lovingly remembered by his grandsons Chris (Melissa) and Ryan (Dianne) and his great grandchildren Katey, Jaxon, William and Ethan. Besides his parents, Robert was predeceased by his son Norman and his brothers and sisters Alexandre, Emily, Albina, Leah, Hilaire and Lionel. Robert served at Juno Beach on D-Day and for more than three years in France, Holland, Germany and Belgium and received the following: 1939-45 Star, France and Germany Star and Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. Resting at East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Wednesday, Jan. 11, then to St. Paul’s Church, Summerside for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment to take place in the church cemetery. Visiting hours on Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Memorial donations in Robert’s memory to the Prince County Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
