Linda Mae Whitaker, 61, of Hammonds Plains, passed away suddenly with a brain hemorrhage in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII on November 19, 2009. Born in Corner Brook, NL, she was a daughter of Olive and Garland Miller. Linda retired from her position as Senior Administrator for Corrections Canada (35 years Government Service). Linda was an avid reader, when her eyesight was better she loved to sew. Linda loved to research, and took great pride in everything she did. Her attention to detail was second to none. Linda valued her friends in a loving and caring way, and she fostered many lasting relationships. Her health challenges did not hold her back. Linda was predeceased by her brother, Irvin (Sue) and daughter, Erika. She is survived by her best friend and loving husband, Ron; parents, Olive and Garland Miller; her grandson, Tyler; son, Timothy (Heather); granddaughter, Kristen; brothers, Wilson (Elizabeth), Calvin (Sheila); sisters, Donna (Hayward), Wanda (Frank) and Rhona; sister-in-law, Susan, and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of life took place Monday, November 23, at 2 p.m. in Birch Cove Baptist Church, 50 Donaldson Ave., with Pastor John Wilton officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
