PICTOU LANDING FIRST NATION – It is with sad hearts we announce the passing of our sister, Brenda Louise Francis, age 49, who passed away on Saturday, January 7th, 2012, at home.

Born in New Glasgow she was a daughter of the late Louis Joseph and Ruby Irene (Knockwood) Francis.

Brenda was a lifelong resident of Pictou Landing First Nation and enjoyed spending time in New Brunswick.
 She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church.
 Brenda enjoyed bowling, playing pool, fishing, hunting and arts and crafts.
 Playing baseball was a favourite sport of Brenda’s where she played pitcher.
 Although having no children of her own she could be found taking care of the needs of many children.

Surviving are her brothers and sisters: Joseph Francis,
 Kenneth Francis, Sarah Clark
, Margaret Francis
, Peter Francis, all of Pictou Landing First Nation; foster sister, Frances Nicholas of Pictou Landing First Nation
; a large number of nieces and nephews
.
Brenda was predeceased by her parents, 
brothers: Douglas, Matthew, Wilfred, Gerald, Noel and Larry, also a brother in infancy.

Her remains will rest at the home of her sister, Sarah Clark, 40 Rose Ave., Pictou Landing First Nation, for visiting 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday. 
Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church with Father Donald Boudreau officiating.
 Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery.

Donations in memory of Brenda may be made to the Diabetic Assoc. or to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Fund.
