February 1, 1917 - January 5, 2012

With sadness we announce that Edna Emery passed away peacefully at Royal Inland Hospital on Thursday, January 5, 2012, at the age of 94 years.

Edna was born in Edmonton, Alberta. She worked in the Hudson Bay store's office as a comptometer operator. In 1940, Edna and Cy Emery were married in Edmonton. They spent a couple of years in Trenton, Ontario and Ottawa while Cy served in the Air Force. They returned to Edmonton and then, subsequently, moved to Vancouver for Cy's work, in 1946. They lived in West Vancouver for 56 years in the home they developed. Edna volunteered in several organizations in the community as the family grew. She was always a caring, loving person. Edna and Cy moved to Berwick on the Park September 26, 2002, when Berwick opened. Edna was known as "the piano lady", often playing the piano for all to enjoy.

She is survived by her children, daughter Joan (Gordon) Britton of Kamloops, and son, Rick Emery of Delta. Also grandchildren Cori (Chris) Huizer, Michelle Britton, Paul (Jenn) Britton, Chelsea (Garrit) de Vos and Amanda (Matt) Smith. Her great grandchildren, Brodie and Kennedy Huizer and dear little ones, Emery and Graham Britton.

Mom was predeceased by her husband Cy in 2004, her parents David and Sarah Holland, sister Hilda Colville and husband Wilf, brother Tom and wife Fay Holland.

We would like to thank all the kind, loving people of Berwick, and the staff at 3West in Royal Inland Hospital, for their care and concern.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Berwick on the Park.
