The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by her loving family at the Wedgewood Manor, Summerside, P.E.I., on Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009, of “Rose” Marie Gallant (nee Luke) of Summerside, and formerly of Miscouche, aged 98 years. Rose was born on July 15, 1911, in Egmont Bay, P.E.I., to her late parents, James and Celine (nee LeBlanc) Luke. Beloved wife of the late Alyer Gallant and her first husband, the late Urban DesRoches. Loving mother of Urban DesRoches of Montreal, Que., Ivan (Lisa) DesRoches of Alabama, U.S.A., Al (Jodie) DesRoches of Kensington, Gina (Ian) Dalziel of Ont., Reg (Dianne) DesRoches of St. Eleanors, Zita (Gregory) Mulligan of Summerside, Laura MacDonald of Miscouche, and Della Walsh of Summerside. Also lovingly remembered by her 26 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husbands, Rose was predeceased by her sister, Mary Anne Arsenault, her brother, Herman Arsenault, and grandson, Kenny DesRoches. Resting at East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Friday, Nov. 27, then to St. John the Baptist Church, Miscouche, for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment to take place in the church cemetery. Visiting hours on Thursday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial donations in Rose’s memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
