With great sadness the family of Max Weldon Reid announce his passing at Western Memorial Hospital, 10 January 2012 at the age of 82 years. He will be forever missed by children: Glenn (Kathy), Hammonds Plains, NS, Donna Ronayne (Patrick), Shoal Harbour, NL, Sean (Denise) Trenton, ON, 4 grandchildren: Jonathan, Heidi, Jacob and Megan, sisters: Mona Joseph (Leo), Shirley Fudge (Jack), Muriel Hinkle (Bob), Truro, NS, brothers-in-law: Lorne Murley (Beulah), Clarence Murley, Alex Murley (Rickie), Elwin Murley, stepmother-in-law Onea Murley and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was pre-deceased by his wife, Shirley, his parents Beatrice and Edward Reid, and sister Doris. When the mood hit him, Max’s quick wit, long list of one-liners, and love of practical jokes could lift anyone’s spirits. Born in the small town of Howley, Max then moved to Corner Brook where he met Shirley and raised their family. Max spent the majority of his adult life struggling with many illnesses, throughout it all his love and support for his family was unwavering. Visitations will be held at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue, Thursday, Jan 12 from 2-4 p.m. and from 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, 13 January at 2:00 p.m. at St. Michael’s and All Angels Anglican Church, Park Drive, Rev. Roberta Woodman officiating followed by burial at Townsite Cemetery, Corner Brook. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit, Western Memorial Regional Hospital.
