It is with broken hearts that we the family announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Mary Camus, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital (An Cala Unit), on Monday January 9, 2012, after a long courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Chéticamp, she was the daughter of Mrs. Lucie Anne (Poirier) Camus and the late Patrick Camus.
Mom was very passionate in the art of traditional rug hooking. She enjoyed life with all her grandchildren and also spending time in Margaree with her close friends.
Mary is survived by her loving children, Denise (Maurice), Paula (John), Wendy (Denis), Paul (Jolie), Marcel (Bonnie), and Vanessa (Jonathon); her 13 grandchildren, Amy, Ashley, Nathan, Amber, Katelyn, Michael, Cordell, Candice, Haylee, Ashley, Taylor, Shea Lynn, and Jonah; five great-grandchildren, Mariah, Caden, Sadie, Peyton and Jonathon. She is also survived by her five brothers, Joseph Arthur, Tommy, Roger, Daniel, and Gelas.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Friday January 13, 2012 at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Saturday January 14, 2012 at 10 a.m. with Father Paul McGillivray in the funeral home chapel. Reception to follow. Interment to take place in the Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Palliative Care Unit or The Canadian Cancer Society.
