Agnes Doucette

NEW GLASGOW – Agnes Muriel (DeYoung) Doucette passed away January 12, 2012, five days after her 87th birthday which she celebrated with her family. She resided at Glen Haven Manor, having also lived in Stellarton and Plymouth.
She was a daughter of the late John and Cecilia (Young) DeYoung, and the beloved wife of the late Harvey Doucette. A top notch seamstress, Agnes enjoyed her many years of working at Wear Well Garments in Stellarton. Using her skills at noon hour, this generous lady would do personal sewing for her co-workers. She and her husband loved to dance and skate. It was the norm for family and friends to come to their home for a ‘lunch’ after these events. Mom was a great hostess and loved to bake. It was her great pleasure sharing her goodies with all who were in her life. She also liked to be on the leading edge of fashion, and took great pleasure in coordinating and adding accessories to her many outfits. This amazing lady’s greatest joy was her family. Always showering us with goodness and leading by example to be a kind, generous person, she loved life and had an infectious free spirit. Her strong faith was predominant in her life and a comfort to her.
Surviving are her daughter, Carol Anne (Carl) Baudoux; grandson, Doug MacMillan (Serena); great-grandson, Ben MacMillan; sisters, Mary Dunbar, Elizabeth Odo, and brother, Francis DeYoung. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Carol Doucette, Ontario; many cousins, numerous nieces and nephews who each were so special to her.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her son, John; sister and brother-in-law, Isabel and John MacLeod; sister-in-law, Betty DeYoung; brothers-in-law, Bob Odo and Tom Dunbar.
Cremation has taken place. No visitation at Mom’s request. The family would like to invite everyone to a celebration of her life that will be held Monday, January 16, at 3 p.m. from Christ Anglican Church, Stellarton, with Rev. Aidan Kingsbury officiating. Following the service the family invites all who came into Mom’s life for a reception.
Family flowers only please. Donations in her memory may be made to the Christ Anglican Church Chairlift Fund, the Aberdeen Hospital Mental Health Unit, or a charity of your choice.
Arrangements have been entrusted to McLaren Funeral Service, Pictou.
