RAYMONDE GENE CLIFFORD ARTUS
Born in London, England, May 23, 1938. Still with an unheeding determination to win his battle with cancer, Ray passed away peacefully at home January 9, 2012.
Forever remembered by his loving wife Kit, his brother Mike, wife Siri and sons Dominic and Paul. He is remembered with love by his brother-in-law Fred, wife Monika and their son Raymond, and a universe of friends and colleagues.
From the rubble of wartime Britain, Ray became a physicist, engineer and seeker of knowledge. He pursued a dream to discover the mysteries of nature.
He was an inventor, artist, humourist, mimic, human encyclopedia and a true English gentleman believing and practising the principles of Masons. All who knew him experienced his natural charm and charisma.
Among his achievements as an inventor were the infinite ratio gear box, the diamond based computer heat sink and a computer encryption code.
Less demanding tasks he enjoyed were as cat lover, classic car restorer, painter, seaside enthusiast and traveller, when time permitted.
His life was cut short before he was ready. Up to the last moment, he was still dreaming dreams of the next invention or challenge in defiance of his debilitating illness.
Please do not send floral tributes. Instead, if you wish, send contributions in Ray’s memory to the Palliative Care Team of Sechelt or to St. Mary’s Hospital, Sechelt.
A celebration of Ray’s life will be held in the spring.
