Dares, Gertrude Lynds (Killen) - 87, Truro passed away suddenly on Saturday, November 28, 2009 in Truro. She was the eldest daughter of the late Carson and Grace (Brown) Killen of Elderbank. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert in 1968 and since that time had been both mother and father to their three children, Myrna, Halifax, Jacquie (Jim), Truro, Carson (April), Wentworth. She worked for many years at Patterson Law Firm in Truro. She has always been an active supporter and volunteer for the Liberal Party up to and including the recent by-election. She will be greatly missed by her sister, Ruth (Eric) and brother, Allison (Joan), both of Elderbank; her grandchildren, Vaughn, Trevor (Tara), Melissa (Jeff), Hayley, Carley, Paul Michael, Matt, Amy and Kayla as well as great-grandchildren, Brandon, Taylor and Savannah. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 1st from 7-9 pm in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro. All are welcome to a Graveside Service on Wednesday, December 2 at 1:00 pm at St. Andrew’s United Church, Elderbank with Rev. Joan Griffin officiating. Reception to follow in the church hall.
