On Sunday, October 1, 2006 Mrs. Amy CatherinAe Gilfillan passed away peacefully at the Kamloops Hospice Home at the age of 90 years. She is survived by her daughter Brenda (Bob) Bengert of Kamloops, her granddaughter Jennifer (Marty) Korba of Calgary, Alberta, her sisters in law Ruth Gilfillan of Nanaimo, B.C. and Isobel Aitchison and many nieces and nephews. Amy was predeceased by her husband Ralph and her brother Jock Aitchison and her infant grandson Bradley Bengert. Amy was raised on a farm near Outlook, Saskatchewan. She moved to Port Alberni with her family when she was eighteen years old, where she met and married her husband Ralph. They were married for 54 wonderful years. Mum had a great passion for travel and her and my father traveled extensively through Canada, USA and Europe. Some of her most memorable times were spent traveling by car to Branson, Missouri. Over the past 55 years she knitted baby outfits for the hospital Gift Shops in Kamloops, Nanaimo and Port Alberni. She took great pride in her knitting. Thank you to the Management and Staff at the Renaissance Retirement Residence for all the help and kindness you gave to Mum, and special thanks to the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice Home staff for the wonderful care you provided, we will be forever grateful. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2006 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. for an afternoon of memories and reminiscing at the home of David & Trish McKinley, 107 Harpooner Place, (off McGirr Road), Nanaimo, B.C. V9V 1C3. Should friends desire donations to the BC Cancer Foundation, 399 Royal Avenue, Kelowna, B.C.
