Clarence C. Zart Sr. 1912 - 2006 Our family regrets to announce the peaceful passing of Clarence C. Zart at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops on October 4th, 2006. Clarence was predeceased by his wife Violet Zart, son James Henry Zart and stepson Laurie Williams, and by his brothers Henry, John and sister Mary. He also leaves to mourn in passing his daughters Maureen Thompson of Victoria, B.C., Julie Schwarz (Emil), and his sons Sonny, Robert (Lynda), his stepson Michael Williams (Carolyn) all of Kamloops. He also leaves in passing his sisters Kay Walker of Mission, B.C. and Anne Kornelson of Kamloops and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Clarence was born in Vancouver in 1912 and came to Kamloops in the 1930\'s. He worked for the C.P.R. at Cherry Creek and then as a machinist at the old Roundhouse in Kamloops until 1949 when the Diesel Engines came into being. He then worked for Tom Hill Stuccoing, and Tom Newcomb as a plasterer. He then was in charge of maintenance for McGavin\'s Bakery which is now the location of the Thompson Hotel & Conference Centre and in his remaining years retired as head of maintenance for Finning Canada. Dad was an avid hunter and fisherman and toured many B.C. Lakes with Vi and her sisters after he retired. He could make anything and fix anything and took great pride in his flowers and vegetable garden. Many of his children have garden artwork that he created and welded for them. He also loved his music and being self taught could play the guitar and banjo and wrote many pieces of music. He also wrote and had published numerous poems. Dad would have liked to say thank-you to his sister-in-law Joyce Zart of Mission, B.C. who so religiously phoned him numerous times a week during this past year. The family would also like to thank the staff of Royal Inland Hospital, 5 North, for their care of Dad in his last days. At Dad\'s request he has asked for no service - in lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the Canadian Red Cross if so desired. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Schoening Funeral Service, telephone 374-1454.
