GERO, Larry Michael – 64, Truro, passed away January 16, 2012. A lifelong resident of Truro, he was the son of the late John “Mick” and Helen (Borden) Gero. Larry, an employee with Crossley Carpets (Tandus) for 41 years, was an avid hunter and fisher who loved the great outdoors and took pleasure in sharing the bounty from his vegetable garden with family and friends. He is survived by his son, Larry, Jr.; grandchildren, Kateri, Pauline, Christian, Larra, Karter, and Baily; brothers, John, James, Irvin, Sterling, Gregory, and Ralph; sisters, Gertrude (Fraser) and Helen Janice; close friend, Liz Schwartz. He was predeceased by his infant son, Terry; infant granddaughter, Haily; sisters, Kay (Peters), Doris and Noreen (McCulloch). Visitation will take place on Friday, January 20, from 7-9 p.m. with funeral service on Saturday, January 21, at 2 p.m., Reverend Lori Ramsay officiating, all in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro. Interment will be in Terrace Hill Cemetery, Truro, in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations in Larry’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
