Charles Winston "Charlie" Churchill of Kamloops died of cancer on October 4, 2006 at Royal Inland Hospital. Charlie leaves behind his wife, Isabella, two sons, a stepson, two stepdaughters, thirteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, former wife Jean, his extended family and many friends. He was predeceased by Margaret Ruth Churchill (nee Cotton), 1989. He will be missed A resident of Kamloops for the last 10 years, Charlie loved his two years in Ashcroft and made many friends there. Raised as a farm boy in Marcelin, Saskatchewan, Charlie brought his wife Margaret, and sons, Roly and Brian, to Creston in 1951. The family moved to Cranbrook in 1958. In 1966, Charlie started in business with the Canal Flats Mercantile and was proud of his community service with the Canal Flats Improvement District, Scouts Canada and the Windermere and District Chamber of Commerce. A new career as postmaster started in Canal Flats and continued with postings in Alert Bay, Fraser Lake, Agassiz and Westbank in BC, as well as Harvey Station and Florenceville, NB. Charlie was active in the Canadian Postmasters and Assistants Association, serving as vice president for 10 years. Retiring to Ashcroft, Charlie was blessed to find a partner in Isabella Clarke. The Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM on October 10, 2006 in the Kamloops Funeral Home Chapel. Following the service, Charlie will be laid to rest at the Hillside Cemetery in Kamloops.
