We regret to announce the passing of David Laffin at his home in Westmount on Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009.
The second son of the late Patrick and Mary (Cox) Laffin.
David was predeceased by his mother in 1972, and his father in 1997.
David was raised in Lingan and attended schools in the area. He was educated at Xavier College in Sydney and the Land Survey Institute in Lawrencetown, NS. He was employed for many years with the Land Registration and Information Service in Summerside, PEI, the Nova Scotia Department of Lands and Forests, Halifax, and more recently, as a parks and grounds supervisor with CBRM and the former Cape Breton County. David and his wife also owned and operated a successful landscaping business for many years.
David is survived by his wife, Myra (Allen), formerly of Summerside, PEI. He leaves behind two children, Meghan (Doug) Wood, Charlottetown, PEI and Adam, at home. He is also survived by his siblings, Harold (Madeleine), Blyth, ON, Ann Marie (George) Desveaux, Coxheath, NS, Eileen (Ray) Carrigan, Canso, NS, Patrick (Norina), Lingan, NS, and several nieces and nephews.
A gathering and reception to remember David will be held Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009 from 6-9 p.m. at Sydney Memorial Chapel.
